FTF is teamed with KPFF as well as Solomon Cordwell Buenz, and Clark Construction on the Cargo Building 626.1 project which involves the design and development of a new 254,000-square-foot, two-story cargo facility. FTF is responsible for the foundation design of Building 626.1. Due to San Francisco mud deposits, the foundation system uses piles extending down to about 80 feet below grade, resulting in piles approximately 90 feet long from the top of the slab. FTF’s scope includes the pile-supported foundation elements, including pile caps and slabs, coordinated with KPFF’s superstructure design.
The Cargo Building 626.1 building will include 106,000 square feet on the first level, 88,000 square feet on the second level, and 60,000 square feet of mezzanine space. Designed to accommodate 28 trucks with direct access from West Field Road, the project enhances space utilization while reducing congestion, setting a new standard for efficient and modern cargo operations at SFO. More information about the project can be found here.
