FTF is serving as SEOR for Kern Community College District’s new Center for Student Success at Bakersfield College. The 48,745 SF, three-story facility features a steel moment-frame structural system supporting a primarily square footprint enhanced by two-story volumes, cantilevers, and expressive exterior cladding including shade screens and louvers. The building serves as a central hub for student services and campus life, with open lobby and gathering spaces that connect directly to the campus quad. The design includes a bridge and concrete bleacher structure linking the building to a raised quad area, extending the student experience beyond the building’s footprint. FTF’s scope covers the full structural design of the building’s primary systems, including foundations, framing, and lateral force resisting elements, from programming through construction administration.
