New Project – PAO Mixed-Use Building
We have been recently selected to provide structural engineering services for a Mixed-Use project in Palo Alto. We are excited to have been selected for this project, as we continue to develop our mixed-use and multi-family market segment. We are working with EID Architects.
This mixed-use project involves the development of an L-shaped lot with below grade parking, three-story mixed use buildings containing commercial and residential spaces, and eleven two-story townhomes. The garage is accessed from each end of the property with ramps. The garage is topped with a post-tensioned slab that will support the mixed-use building, townhomes, courtyards, tree planter boxes and other landscaping.
Under Construction – Hollywood Residence [Update]
The construction work on this performance-based design single family residence continues. The basement concrete mat slab is now ready for the concrete pour, and the construction of the concrete walls and first-story concrete slab will follow shortly. In future newsletters we will provide updates on the construction of this unique house, as well as insights into the design process and the structural characteristics.
As we mentioned in our 2017 Summer Newsletter, this residence will be capable of withstanding the largest earthquakes with limited structural damage. This was made possible by utilizing viscous fluid dampers that will dissipate the earthquake energy and protect the building and its contents. To be continued…
Cycling News
Again for 2018 FTF Engineering and friends will be participating in the Wine Country Century bike ride in Santa Rosa on Saturday, May 5, 2018 hosted by the Santa Rosa Cycling Club. This year we have a group of over 20 from the A/E/C industry participating.
On an ongoing basis we host a casual weekly morning road bike ride, where you will find a few FTF employees and our A/E/C industry cyclist friends spinning around San Francisco, the Marin Headlands or a local coffee shop before work.
We also organize, participate in, and sponsor cycling events on an ongoing basis. If you would like to learn more or be added to our list of cycling friends, contact James Enright at jenright@ftfengineering.com.
