FTF Engineering:
SFO Local Business Enterprise Partner

In 2022, the WSJ ranked San Francisco International first as the nation’s best large airport. FTF Engineering is proud to be a part of that experience. While travelers may focus on the yoga rooms, art exhibits, and gourmet treats, we have ensured your safety and comfort. As the Prime Structural Engineer, we are working with McCarthy and Gensler on the Phase 2 renovation of the International Terminal Building. Read more here. Look up next time you are in the main Terminal, and you will see a roof upgrade with solar panels. FTF worked with McCarthy and WJE. Read more here.

Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ on:
Structural Engineer’s Dream Happy Hour

How do structural engineers socialize? They visited the Englekirk Structural Engineering Center, where the LHPOST6 has enabled the seismic testing of full-scale structural, geostructural, and soil-foundation-structural systems with its ability to accurately reproduce 6 degrees of motion recorded from actual earthquakes. Wow!

New Projects

Russian Hill Residence

FTF was fortunate to work on many projects with the late architect Lewis Butler of Butler Armsden. One of these is a contemporary showcase on Russian Hill. The team worked with Crown Construction to create an elegant and safe seismic force-resisting system utilizing a three-story steel moment frame at the front façade and a four-story steel moment frame that extended to the new penthouse roof, maximizing the panoramic views. Our structural engineering allowed for an interior modern open-space concept with a Venetian-plaster helix spiral staircase that twists through the three top stories of the four-level home.
