FTF is currently supporting Van Sande Structural Consultants on a two-story addition to Santa Barbara’s iconic Lobero Theatre, originally designed by George Washington Smith and Lutah Maria Riggs in 1924 and recognized as California’s oldest continuously operating theater. The project will enhance the theater’s rear courtyard with a two-level scene shop and attached offices, along with a new multi-level structure built around the existing fly tower that includes a backstage area on the lower level, a 130-seat banquet hall on the second floor, and a bar and lounge opening onto a rooftop deck above. The additions were developed to complement the theater’s historic character while providing new event and support spaces.
